A Short Sermon on Risk Management<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Risk Management is the attempt to anticipate and prevent or mitigate harms that may be avoidable.<\/li>\n
  2. Good Risk Management is inherently simple; adding too many complexities increases the likelihood of overlooking the obvious.<\/li>\n
  3. There are three guidelines for effective Risk Management practice:\n
      \n
    1. Use Foresight<\/em> (don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t wait until you are blindsided by risk);<\/li>\n
    2. Exercise Precaution<\/em> (allow a decent margin of safety for unexpected events);<\/li>\n
    3. Put a floor under the Downside Risk<\/em> (lower the likelihood of catastrophic losses).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
